Salford Royal, part of the Northern Care Alliance (NCA), is one of the UK’s leading NHS organisations. With a proud history spanning over 200 years, we are a hub of excellence in healthcare, research, and education. The NCA is a progressive partnership, bringing together four hospital sites: Salford, Oldham, Bury, and Rochdale, delivering care to over one million people across Greater Manchester and beyond. As a teaching hospital affiliated with The University of Manchester, Salford Royal is committed to driving forward the highest standards of patient care, education, and innovation.

Salford Royal is home to the Greater Manchester Major Trauma Centre, where you will be part of a high-performing team delivering complex surgical care for neuro, trauma, spinal, and other specialties. Our modern operating theatres and perioperative services provide an ideal environment to work collaboratively and develop specialist expertise. With ongoing investment in surgical services and multidisciplinary collaboration, Salford Royal offers an exceptional opportunity for clinicians who are passionate about making a difference.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Consultant Anaesthetist to join our highly regarded anaesthetic team. The role involves providing high-quality anaesthetic and perioperative care across a broad range of specialties. In addition to clinical duties, there are opportunities to get involved in service development, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to the teaching and training of resident doctors and allied health professionals. There may also be some cross site working at NCA’s other hospital sites including Fairfield General Hospital, Rochdale Infirmary and Royal Oldham Hospital.

We are looking for an individual with exceptional clinical skills, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. You will hold full GMC registration with specialist certification in anaesthesia (or be within six months of achieving this at the time of application). We welcome candidates with an interest in areas such as service development, education, or research to further enhance our department.

At Salford Royal, we celebrate diversity and are dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. We are proud to champion equality and ensure that every team member feels valued, respected, and supported in their career journey. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, particularly those from underrepresented groups.
