NHS Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB)
Chair | Non-Executive Member | Independent Audit and Risk Committee Member
Help shape the future of health and care for two million people.
NHS Kent and Medway ICB commissions healthcare for around two million people, with an annual budget of approximately £5.4 billion in 2026/27. As we transform into a high-performing strategic commissioning organisation – shifting care from hospital to community, treatment to prevention, and analogue to digital – we’re seeking three exceptional individuals to strengthen our board and its governance.
Chair
We’re looking for an exceptional leader to provide visible, credible, values-driven leadership as the ICB continues its transformation. The chair will lead the unitary board, hold the organisation to account for strategy and financial delivery, and build public confidence in the system. You’ll bring proven chair or executive director experience from a large, complex organisation, strategic vision, and the ability to convene and influence across a complex partnership landscape.
Independent Non-Executive Member
Join the unitary board as a full member with collective responsibility for governance, financial stewardship, risk management and assurance. You’ll bring independent judgement, strategic insight and constructive challenge – helping the board stay focused on improving outcomes and reducing inequalities across Kent and Medway. Experience from health and care or other sectors is equally welcome.
Independent Audit and Risk Committee Member
Support the Audit and Risk Committee in providing independent, objective assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of the ICB’s governance, risk management and internal control frameworks. We’re looking for significant experience in audit, finance or risk management, and the confidence to scrutinise and challenge constructively at senior level.
Across all three roles, we welcome applicants with experience of operating at a senior level within complex organisations who can demonstrate sound independent judgement, high personal integrity and a talent for partnership working. We believe the best boards are those that reflect the communities they serve and particularly welcome applications from those who bring life experience and personal insight – for example as a patient, carer or service user, or through lived experience of mental health issues, disability, or engagement with diverse communities.
