Head of Data Engineering – The Health Foundation

We are seeking a strategic and technically strong Head of Data Engineering to lead data capability at one of the UK’s leading independent health charities, the Health Foundation.

The Health Foundation uses major healthcare datasets to produce research, analysis, and policy insights that improve health and care across the UK.

This role sits within the Analysis Directorate and leads a team of Data Engineers and Data Managers, shaping how data is structured, governed, and used across the organisation.

You’ll build on strong existing foundations in data governance and infrastructure to develop a more mature, strategic data engineering function. Key priorities include improving data architecture and consistency, strengthening data management practices, and enabling better use of current and future datasets to support impactful research and innovation.

We are looking for an experienced data leader with strong technical expertise, experience managing complex datasets, and the ability to influence stakeholders and drive improvement. Healthcare experience is beneficial but not essential.

This is an opportunity to shape a key leadership role in a collaborative, values-driven organisation focused on improving UK health and care outcomes through high-quality evidence and analysis.
