Chief Operating Officer – University Hospitals Tees Group NHS Foundation Trust

University Hospitals Tees Group (UHT) is seeking to appoint an outstanding Chief Operating Officer to join at a pivotal stage in the Group’s development.

This is a key leadership role with shared corporate responsibility for the performance, sustainability and strategic success of the Group. Working closely with the Group Chief Delivery Officer, Medical Director and Director of Nursing, the Chief Operating Officer will provide visible and credible leadership across all clinical and operational services, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality, safe and effective care for patients.

The postholder will lead operational performance, service improvement and transformation across multiple hospital sites, supporting high-performing Clinical Service Unit leadership teams and embedding strong governance, performance management and continuous improvement. The role also plays a critical part in shaping and delivering new models of care in partnership with system colleagues across the Integrated Care System and wider health and care partners.

We are seeking a highly experienced operational leader with a strong track record at a senior level within a large, complex NHS acute organisation or system. You will be an inclusive, politically astute and resilient leader, able to engage senior clinicians, lead through complexity and translate strategic ambition into measurable improvements in quality, productivity and patient experience.
