We have an exciting opportunity to join our executive team as Chief People Officer.
Our Integrated Care System (ICS) is the largest in the country, serving a population of 3.2 million people, and we are regularly rated amongst the best in the country for the quality of our services. We have a strong track record of being at the forefront of innovation and we have a deep ambition to deliver best-in-class services to our communities.
We’re proud to have a highly skilled, dedicated and committed workforce in the North East and North Cumbria. Around 170,000 people work in health and care, in the NHS, local authorities and the independent, voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors. We also benefit from the selfless contribution of unpaid carers and volunteers. People are our greatest strength. But despite the deeply impressive commitment that staff have shown over the last few difficult years, we still face significant challenges.
To respond to those challenges, we developed a new People and Culture Strategy earlier this year, and our new Chief People Officer will lead its delivery. Acting as a system leader and role model (including for the HR/OD profession), you will champion the values of the ICB and galvanise a network of CPOs that are focused on putting our people at the heart of quality, access and experience for the benefit of the population we serve. Playing a pivotal role in the creation of a progressive culture and employment environment, you will seek opportunities for influencing the continuing development of a diverse, inclusive and responsive workforce. Internally, together with other members of the executive team, you will ensure the ICB organisational culture is shaped by compassionate leadership, engagement, experience innovation, accountability, patient focus and delivering the best outcomes.
We are seeking an inspiring and compassionate People leader with significant senior experience, ideally at board level. We will value your strategic thinking ability but we also need someone with a track record of delivery – you will have the drive to ensure change and transformation at scale happen. Our partnerships are critical, so you will have excellent relational and influencing skills and have the political nous to navigate complex and contentious issues. Fundamentally, too, you will be able to demonstrate your personal and professional commitment to all aspects of equity and inclusion.
We welcome interest from people of all backgrounds and encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply. In recruiting to our ICB, we are committed to equality of opportunity for all. We believe that the best organisations are those that reflect the communities they serve. We especially welcome applications from candidates from the global majority, LGBTQ+ communities, and from people with lived experience of disability.
