About Us
University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust (UHD) is a forward thinking organisation providing high-quality healthcare across three hospital sites—Poole, Bournemouth, and Christchurch. Formed in October 2020 through the merger of Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, UHD serves a population of approximately 800,000 residents across Dorset and beyond. Our hospitals are home to a range of specialist services, including a major trauma centre, a dedicated cancer centre, and regional centres for cardiac and neurological care. With ongoing investment and a commitment to innovation, UHD is dedicated to delivering outstanding patient care and medical excellence.
Why Join UHD?
UHD is at the forefront of modern healthcare, with a strong focus on innovation, research, and education. The Trust is currently undergoing a major transformation with the development of a new state-of-the-art hospital at the Royal Bournemouth site, as part of a £250 million investment in our estate and services. This will provide cutting-edge facilities for imaging and diagnostics, making it an exciting time to join our Radiology team. Additionally, we have recently opened our Community Diagnostic Centre, enhancing access to vital imaging services for our patients and reducing waiting times. Our Trust values—”We Care, We Communicate, We Improve”—are at the heart of everything we do, ensuring a compassionate and patient-centred approach to healthcare.
The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Consultant Radiologist to join our friendly and collaborative Radiology team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality diagnostic and interventional radiology services across our three hospital sites. This role offers the opportunity to develop a subspecialist interest, with strong support for professional development and research. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of radiologists, radiographers, and clinicians to provide expert imaging interpretation and contribute to service improvements. There are also opportunities to be involved in teaching and training junior doctors and radiographers. The post-holders will be predominantly based at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site although there may be the requirement or opportunity for some sessions at Poole Hospital.
What We’re Looking For
-
GMC registration with a licence to practise and inclusion on the Specialist Register for Clinical Radiology (or eligibility within six months of interview).
-
Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) or equivalent qualification.
-
Experience in delivering high-quality radiology services, with the ability to develop a subspecialist interest.
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to patient-centred care.
-
A passion for innovation, service development, and continuous improvement
