Help shape the future of healthcare across Surrey

Rated Outstanding by the CQC and recognised nationally for staff engagement and innovation, Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust is entering an exciting new phase. We are expanding services, strengthening system partnerships, and investing in state-of-the-art facilities, including a new Cancer and Surgical Innovation Centre.

As we evolve into a group model with our neighbouring trust, Ashford & St Peter’s, we are seeking an exceptional individual to join us as Deputy Chair. This is a unique opportunity to influence strategy at scale, strengthen organisational performance, and improve outcomes for patients across Surrey and beyond.

Working closely with the Chair, the Deputy Chair will play a central role in leading the Board, ensuring effective governance and clear strategic direction. You will deputise for the Chair where required, including chairing Board and Council of Governors meetings, and will contribute to system-wide leadership through partnership working across the Trust’s emerging group model.

We are seeking a candidate with significant Board-level experience in a large and complex organisation, with a strong track record in governance, strategy and organisational leadership. You will bring sound judgement, the ability to both support and challenge constructively, and a genuine commitment to improving healthcare and tackling inequalities.

We are committed to building a Board that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We particularly welcome applications from individuals who bring diverse perspectives, backgrounds and lived experience.
