Design and Construction Director – Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest trusts in the NHS, split across three main sites and multiple community sites. We have an ambition to be one of the best. As part of the government’s New Hospital Programme, Frimley is set to benefit from this once-in-a-generation programme to fundamentally build and transform a new state of the art Frimley Park Hospital and ensure we continue to provide care in a safe, reliable, and modern environment. By modernising our estate, the programme will support local healthcare in the future for the community, and improve healthcare quality for our population, creating a more sustainable healthcare environment. We are now seeking a Design and Construction Director who shares our ambition.

As the Design and Construction Director you will lead the development of Frimley Park Hospital and other Trust estates, creating a clinically focused, digitally integrated healthcare environment. You will build and manage multi-disciplinary teams and collaborate with the NHP team to oversee all phases from design through to commissioning. Managing a capital budget of over £1 billion, you will supervise and support circa 20-30 staff across multiple sites, overseeing procurement, contractor management, and ensuring technical standards, budgets, and timelines are met. Responsibilities also include developing infrastructure and design briefs, managing site phasing, and aligning off-site service solutions with strategic goals, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and best-practice guidelines.

This is an incredible opportunity to design and build a new state of the art Frimley Park Hospital. Ideally you will have certifications in project management and hold a membership in a relevant professional body. You will have extensive experience managing complex, high-value projects, ideally within the NHS, as well as operational healthcare management and leadership experience dealing with capital planning, NHS compliance, FM service models, and public sector property (including NEC contracts and NHS standards like Health Building Notes) is essential. As well as this you will have a long and proven record of developing major business cases, handling budgets, and managing risks.
