Hospice in the Weald is a well-established local charity serving West Kent and northern East Sussex for over 40 years. People in these communities rely on us as their local Hospice and the extensive range of services that we provide. Hospice in the Weald is a well-recognised healthcare provider and charity offering hospice care to adults and children facing a terminal illness, as well as supporting their loved ones and families.

The hospice movement is a very British success and Hospice in the Weald aspires to be the best of the best. We strive to provide world-class hospice palliative care. The people who make up our workforce, our staff and volunteers, who themselves are enabled by the generosity of the people in the communities we serve, help make that possible.

Over the last two years, we have implemented new ways of working; for example, we have changed and increased our use of technology to provide more flexible access to hospice care. This includes continuing to offer counselling and support via video or phone call, a way of working which became useful during the pandemic but has continued to improve access to support for patients and their loved ones. Our physiotherapists are also working via video call and will continue to do so where this is best for the patient, along with a return to home visits and in-person appointments.

By making better use of technology to ‘work smarter’, we can spend more time with the families who need our care. We will also continue to give patients and families choice in how we work with them, focusing on supporting and empowering adults and children with terminal illnesses, who often feel disempowered by their diagnosis or symptoms. We will focus on empowering patients to celebrate life and dignify death.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our organisation as Director of Quality Governance.

Reporting to our Chief Executive, the Director of Quality Governance is a key member of our Executive team, providing leadership to our organisation in all matters relating to healthcare quality governance and risk management. We’re looking for someone to lead the transformation of governance and assurance process and procedures within the organisation so that we can make decisions based on strong intelligence. They will cultivate relationships with a wide network of colleagues and be responsible for ensuring compliance with the requirements of the CQC.

We are looking to speak with compassionate nurses and AHPs with extensive experience operating at senior level within quality governance. You will bring an in-depth knowledge of governance, assurance, risk, patient safety and a passion and belief in collaboration and inclusion.

We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and welcome applications from underrepresented groups. In recruiting to our organisation, we are committed to equality of opportunity for all. We believe that the best organisations are those that reflect the communities they serve.
