We are seeking an exceptional clinical leader to join Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) as our next Executive Medical Director. This is a pivotal opportunity for an experienced and values-driven medical leader to shape the strategic direction of one of the country’s most diverse and ambitious mental health and community providers.
EPUT delivers a broad range of community health, mental health, and learning disability services to a population of more than 2 million people across Essex, Bedfordshire, and Suffolk. As a key member of our Trust Board, the Executive Medical Director will provide visible, compassionate, and credible leadership across our clinical workforce. You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of patient safety and clinical governance, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and improvement throughout the organisation.
You will act as the Trust’s Responsible Officer, Caldicott Guardian and executive lead for medical revalidation, research and innovation, pharmacy, and medical education ensuring robust systems are in place for governance, performance and workforce development. You will work closely with the Chief Executive, Board colleagues, and system partners to deliver our strategic objectives and continue developing EPUT’s reputation as a progressive, learning organisation.
We are looking to engage with candidates who bring significant senior medical leadership experience within a large, complex health or care setting. You will demonstrate a strong track record of improving quality and safety, building effective partnerships, and leading change across professional and organisational boundaries. Politically astute and personally credible, you will inspire confidence among clinicians, colleagues and stakeholders alike ensuring that EPUT continues to provide compassionate, person-centred care and that our medical workforce is supported to thrive.
