Consultant Overview:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any subject, with a minimum 2:1 classification. Candidates without a degree may substitute with 5+ years of relevant experience.

  • Experience: Transferable experience in technical support, business analysis, project management, healthcare, or IT is preferred. A strong analytical and problem-solving mindset is essential.

  • Must be able to travel UK wide.

As a Consultant in Hunter’s Digital Health Consulting Practice, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of digital transformation projects across the healthcare sector. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you’ll apply structured problem-solving approaches, contribute to analysis and solution design, and build your consulting skillset.

With a growing focus on Epic implementations, this role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in one of the most significant Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems in the NHS. You’ll support clients in configuring and optimising Epic to help them achieve their clinical and operational goals. Your pharmaceutical background will be particularly valuable when configuring clinical workflows, medicines management processes, and ensuring the system meets the needs of frontline healthcare professionals. Key Accountabilities:

Client Delivery

  • Lead and support the planning, design, and configuration of Epic EPR solutions in alignment with clinical and operational needs.

  • Manage technical elements of Epic implementation, configuration, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal system performance.

  • Develop and execute test scripts across clinical and administrative workflows, supporting robust system optimisation.

  • Deliver hands-on training to clinical staff and end users, building capability and confidence in system use, your clinical background will help you connect with healthcare professionals and address their concerns.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to gather feedback and drive continuous improvement of Epic functionalities.

Client Management

  • Contribute to day-to-day client interactions, representing Hunter in a collaborative, credible, and professional manner.

  • Develop an understanding of client priorities and organisational context.

  • Participate in meetings, capture key decisions and actions, and follow up on responsibilities promptly.

Growth & Practice Development

  • Support internal knowledge-building efforts across the Epic and digital health practices, including development of methods, templates, and IP.

  • Contribute to proposal development through research, insight gathering, or drafting sections.

  • Get involved in wider firm growth initiatives, including case studies, events, and thought leadership.

Team Contribution & Development

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues and foster positive team dynamics.

  • Actively seek feedback and contribute to your own professional development.

  • Engage with internal communities of practice and support knowledge sharing across the business.

Key Requirements

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any subject, with a minimum 2:1 classification. Pharmacy degree (MPharm or equivalent) is ideal. Candidates without a degree may substitute with 5+ years of relevant experience.

  • Experience: Pharmacy experience in any setting (hospital, community, clinical, industry) is highly valued. Transferable experience in technical support, business analysis, project management, healthcare, or IT is beneficial but not essential. A strong analytical and problem-solving mindset is essential.

  • Current or previous GPhC registration is desirable but not mandatory.

  • Must be able to travel UK wide.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, a skill pharmacists use daily when counselling patients and advising clinicians.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work efficiently under pressure.

  • Keen interest in EPR systems, healthcare workflows, and digital transformation in healthcare.
